About Me

ሰላም. I'm Hyperlight-iPod, but you can simply call me iPod.I have a mix of different hobbies and skills—I work on art, animation, game design, character design, tech, and soldering. When it comes to interacting with people, basic mutual respect is important for everyone. However, I tend to save my closest generosity and energy for friends who show that same deep respect back to me.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Q: Who are you and what do you do?
A: I'm iPod. I design video games, draw, and animate on my computer. I also build desktop computers on the side.
2. Q: How long have you been drawing?
A: Honestly, I can't remember exactly, but it's safe to assume I started around the mid-2000s.
3. Q: How do you describe your art and design style?
A: It's mostly anime-like with cartoonish proportions. While my casual sketches look pretty simplistic, I focus on realistic anatomy when I get serious about drawing human characters.
4. Q: Do you take commissions, and how can I request one?
A: Yes, I do. Right now, you usually need a DeviantArt account to note me, though I am also starting to open up messages on Bluesky.
5. Q: What is your commission process?
A: You describe what you want, and I'll figure out the fees to give you a final price. After that, the drawing process can be unpredictable—it might take anywhere from a few days to several weeks.
6. Q: Can I request changes to completed artwork?
A: Generally, no. I might make a tiny exception for a very minor fix, but most of the time the completed artwork is final.
7. Q: How will I receive the final artwork?
A: I will upload the completed piece to my DeviantArt page.
8. Q: Do you offer physical shipping?
A: No, everything is digital.
9. Q: Can I use the commissioned artwork for commercial purposes?
A: Yes, but you must give me clear credit as the creator. However, my original characters and IPs are completely off-limits for commercial use—those belong to me and are not for sale.
10. Q: Do you take free requests?
A: No, I don't do free requests anymore.
11. Q: What's your cultural background?
A: I was born in the United States and am American, but my ancestry is Eritrean, making me Eritrean American.

2D Character Designs & Art Styles

I currently specialize in three different styles for fictional characters.

Cartoon: Heavily inspired by the Western animation, exaggerated and simple body proportions just to speed things up.

Anime: Japanese animation-inspired character design with expressive facial apperances and more-or-less realistic body proportions. This is my favorite style!

Semi-Realistic: Stylized with anatomically-accurate design based on the appearance of real-life, as seen with AAA video games known for their ultra-realistic graphics.
